TGR Foundation, Discovery Education launch free educator professional learning series
TGR Foundation is excited to launch a new educator professional learning series on its free digital platform, TGR EDU: Explore. Comprised of six no-cost modules, the series provides educators of all levels and experiences with tools and resources to create authentic, student-centered learning opportunities that help students connect to real-world STEM careers.
Working with Discovery Education, TGR Foundation set out make professional learning opportunities more accessible so educators can learn at their own pace. With a wide variety of tools and resources already available on the award-winning TGR EDU: Explore platform, expanding the professional learning resources through the series was a natural fit.
Anaheim Union High School District partners with TGR Foundation, invests in educators
As educators face challenges of distance learning and look for strategies to keep students engaged in virtual, in-person and hybrid class formats, TGR Foundation’s four-part series of STEM Studio trainings provided a solution with a domestic launch in Anaheim, CA. In close proximity, to the foundation’s flagship TGR Learning Lab, many Anaheim Union High School District educators had already been connected to our programs.
In the summer of 2021, the cohort model was launched with a group of teachers from Dale, Sycamore, Orangewood and Walker junior high schools participating in Virtual STEM Studio One, Inquiry Mindset. From there we have continued working with cohorts from Dale that have moved forward in our Inquiry Pathway to a second Inquiry Workshop, Making Thinking Visible.
TGR Foundation leads DoD STEM Ambassador Program
DoD STEM, leader of the Defense STEM Education Consortium (DSEC), has recently chosen TGR Foundation to manage their DoD STEM Ambassador Program for the 2021-2022 academic year.
In September of 2021, TGR Foundation welcomed 16 STEM Ambassadors from across the United States. These highly qualified educators were selected from a wide applicant pool and come equipped with a variety and wealth of knowledge in STEM-related fields across the k-12 spectrum.
TGR Foundation expands programs, impact during pandemic
As the nation transitioned to social distancing and remote living in response to COVID-19, student learning was an important concern. Using more than 20 years of experience, TGR Foundation responded quickly and continued serving our community of students, educators and families.
As we reflect on our virtual spring and summer programs over the last five months, and head into a new academic year, we’re proud of what we have achieved and motivated to continue our efforts to empower youth through education.
Embracing the present and future of education: 7 tips to master remote learning
This year since the transition to remote learning, I’ve consistently read and heard about the failure of remote learning and how students will continue to fall further and further behind because teaching can’t happen without a classroom.
We are at an inflection point, one that challenges teachers, and everyone in education, to not succumb to the way things used to be, but instead, give voice and energy to what can be for each and every classroom around the country. Now is the time to create new spaces for learning – without fear of failure.

TGR Foundation expands impact, launches Master Trainer Program
With educator professional learning programs a core initiative at TGR Foundation, the intended outcome has always been rooted in the idea of empowering educators to set up engaging, student-led learning environments in their own classrooms. While some specifics of our professional learning program, STEM Studio, have changed over the years, our approach of collaborating, celebrating and supporting educators to be their best selves for students, has emphatically continued. For more than 24 years TGR Foundation has worked to empower youth through education and help them discover, develop and pursue their passions. A variety of free programs and resources at the flagship TGR Learning Lab and satellite sites across the country have driven transformation in teachers, facilitators, students and education.
TGR EDU: Explore was designed to expand use of the TGR Learning Lab’s award-winning curricula and experiences and make it accessible through the click of a mouse or the tap of a finger. Year of Significance: How TGR excelled in 2019 and what’s in store for the new decade

How STEM Studio connected students and educators across boarders
Professional development workshops and conferences are ways to learn new teaching strategies and improve one’s teaching practice. In the summer of 2018, I attended my first weeklong STEM Studio hosted by TGR Foundation. Even though I have participated in numerous workshops throughout my teaching career, there was something unique about STEM Studio. In attempting to describe my STEM Studio experience, the word that comes to mind is CREATE.
TGR Foundation selected to strengthen national K-16 STEM education, outreach
TGR Foundation is excited to announce a partnership with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to drive forward its mission to encourage students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The Department of Defense’s recently-launched Defense STEM Education Consortium (DSEC) will strengthen kindergarten through college STEM education and outreach programs across the United States.

In celebration of Women’s History Month, we’re proud to honor female pioneers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) who have paved the way for other women to learn, grow and lead in tomorrow’s workforce.
Recognizing the importance of quality STEM education and gaps in underrepresented communities, we recently expanded our programs to reach students and educators around the world. Integrated STEM (iSTEM) professional development series makes impact
With the combination of dedicated science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) educators, leaders and a professional learning series on student-centered instructional practices the Integrated STEM (iSTEM) professional development series was born. This PD series was coordinated by both the TGR Foundation, a Tiger Woods Charity, and the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) in Washington, DC. OSSE provided financial support for the iSTEM Development Program.
STEM Studio participants soar through STEM using drones
We’ve seen those breathtaking videos of natural landscapes, watched synchronized LED light performances at the Super Bowl, or even read about commercial drone package delivery. Drones or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have served their initial purpose of military reconnaissance and supported developments in agriculture, photography and film, and even search and rescue operations. They’ve recently made their way into education, and it becomes important for our educators to examine the opportunities and precautions when implementing lessons involving new technology. This year, TGR EDU: Create introduced drone workshops during our STEM Studio professional development trainings for educators that focused on promoting computer science concepts and how STEM thinking has contributed to the current application of drones.

Founded in 1996 as a means to provide more for children who have less, TGR Foundation transforms young lives with innovative science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) curriculum, college-access programs and digital initiatives. STEM Studio, sponsored by Kaiser Permanente, will unite a diverse group of professionals with unique teaching experiences and perspectives.
