I started my journey at Lafayette College intending to study economics and faced many challenges trying to decide what I wanted to pursue after college. My classes were packed with STEM courses, and I felt ill-prepared for the journey I was about to embark upon. TGR Foundation was extremely helpful in my struggles throughout the years. Cobbs Creek Foundation breaks ground on TGR Learning Lab and revitalization of historic Cobbs Creek Golf Course

PHILADELPHIA – Members of the Cobbs Creek Foundation were joined by elected officials, educators, and supporters to celebrate the launch of the foundation’s revitalization of the historic Cobbs Creek Golf Course, a project that will invest at least $100 million into restoring the course and transforming the property into a dynamic golf and education campus. 

The groundbreaking marks the start of construction for the Cobbs Creek Campus. The initial phases of development will include building a reservoir and pumphouse, TGR Learning Lab and driving range building.

TGR Foundation welcomes executive director of TGR Learning Lab at Cobbs Creek

TGR Foundation has announced Meredith Foote as the executive director of its new TGR Learning Lab in Philadelphia. Foote, an experienced leader in education will oversee all programs, operations and funding opportunities at the TGR Learning Lab at Cobbs Creek which will empower students to discover and achieve their fullest potential.

“We are excited to have Meredith join TGR Foundation and lead our expansion into Philadelphia at the Cobbs Creek campus,” said John Lee, senior vice president programs and education. “She shares our passion for education and providing youth with access and opportunities to thrive.”

Jin Choi Thatcher has served the Foundation for more than 20 years and was recently named chief operating officer. With humble beginnings in Orange County and a Korean American heritage, Thatcher has a passion for helping under-resourced communities. As a first-generation high school and college graduate who worked hard and maximized resources to fund her education, she is a proud alumna of Western High School and the University of California, Irvine.

TGR Foundation and TGR Design are partnering with the Cobbs Creek Foundation to enhance access to education and golf in Philadelphia through the new Cobbs Creek campus. The campus will support the community through innovative education programs and opportunities to empower youth to discover and achieve their fullest potential.

Through the partnership, TGR Foundation will operate a TGR Learning Lab, providing youth from the region access to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education, college preparation and career readiness programs.

DoD STEM, TGR Foundation announce third cohort of national educator ambassadors

After a rigorous selection process, TGR Foundation and DOD STEM, recently announced its third cohort of DoD STEM Ambassadors with 22 STEM educators from across the country. Bringing decades of experience, the ambassadors will share and support the DoD’s educational outreach efforts through the Defense STEM Education Consortium (DSEC).  TGR Foundation began managing the collaborative partnership between academia, industry, not-for-profit organizations and government in 2021 and will continue to lead the program for a second year. The DOD STEM Ambassador program aims to broaden STEM literacy and develop a diverse and agile workforce with the technical excellence to defend our nation.

NSPA recognizes TGR Foundation as Scholarship Provider of the Year for Earl Woods Scholar Program

The National Scholarship Providers Association announced TGR Foundation as its 2022 Scholarship Provider of the Year during its annual conference on Thursday, October 21.  

Highlighting the success of the Earl Woods Scholar Program, which launched in 2006 to honor the legacy of Tiger Woods’ father, the late Earl Woods, the program supports students from under-resourced communities through financial aid, yearly workshops, a dedicated mentor throughout their college journeys and a host of resources.
