NSPA recognizes TGR Foundation as Scholarship Provider of the Year for Earl Woods Scholar Program

The National Scholarship Providers Association announced TGR Foundation as its 2022 Scholarship Provider of the Year during its annual conference on Thursday, October 21.

Highlighting the success of the Earl Woods Scholar Program, which launched in 2006 to honor the legacy of Tiger Woods’ father, the late Earl Woods, the program supports students from under-resourced communities through financial aid, yearly workshops, a dedicated mentor throughout their college journeys and a host of resources.

“I am proud to accept this award on behalf of TGR Foundation and the Earl Woods Scholar Program,” said Cristina Fernandez, Senior Director of Programs, when accepting the award. “I was blessed to assist in the creation of the program in 2006 in memory of the late Earl Woods and to see its evolvement and great growth.”

The award offered in two categories recognizes scholarship providers that leverage their unique resources to strengthen college access and success, advance industry or professional performance, kick-start innovation and improve conditions in and beyond their community. Selected by a committee of past winners and NSPA leaders, TGR Foundation was recognized in the small scholarship provider award category.

The 2022 Conference, themed “cultivating resilience through scholarships,” was held in Chicago, IL, and joined organizations across the country building on the NSPA’s mission to advance the collective impact of scholarship providers and the scholarships they award in addition to supporting the needs of professionals administering scholarships.

“We are grateful to the NSPA for this honor in recognition of the impact of our Earl Woods Scholar Program,” said Gordon McNeil, President and CEO, TGR Foundation. “The success of the program and our scholars is made possible because our team and community of champions go all in as we work together to empower youth through education.”

Since its inception 16 years ago, the Earl Woods Scholar Program has supported hundreds of students on their paths to college and career success. It holds a 98% graduation rate and primarily serves minority students from under-resourced communities who are the first in their families to attend or graduate from college.
