TGR Foundation encourages summer STEM learning through free virtual lessons
TGR Foundation takes summer learning from the flagship TGR Learning Lab in Anaheim right into your hands with TGR EDU: Explore.
Students at the learning lab experience hands-on projects, explore their interests and develop new skills each week, and TGR EDU: Explore duplicates this experience for students around the world with the click of a mouse.
With four, free self-paced digital modules available, participants have access to a virtual college tour, an undersea journey to explore biomimicry and a trip to the solar system and back all before the end of summer. Each lesson can be completed in less than 40 minutes and offers a supplemental educator’s guide to lead facilitators through the module and provide tips to maximize learning.
In Following Nature’s Lead, geared toward middle school students, individuals explore biomimicry through a virtual squid dissection. The 25-minute module also shares related careers and engineering innovations, including vivid imagery and interactive activities.
Soaring with learners into the universe, To Our Solar System and Back ignites students on a journey into space in less than 30 minutes. In addition to launching and landing a rocket, the lesson engages students in scientific technologies and astronomy careers.
Many students who discover the path to STEM education and careers become discouraged by the cost of higher education. Financial Pursuit helps students and families navigate the college financial aid process, debunks misconceptions about access to higher education and builds confidence in gaining financial support needed for continuing education programs.
Although financial aid is a major component of accessing higher education, there are many other elements to consider from the admissions process to student services, and the College Blueprint module allows students to take a virtual campus tour featuring several stops. At the end of the tour, participants will have a variety of important information to launch their academic and career goals.
