A Celebration of Community
This past Saturday we celebrated the relaunch of the TGR Learning Lab with our community of students, families, educators, and supporters. Community Fest was a day full of fun for the entire family. Guests had the opportunity to see the upgrades of the TGR Learning Lab campus, experience our programs in action, learn more about courses and resources available and enjoy entertainment throughout the day.
Through a partnership with Find Your Grind Foundation, participants at Community Fest took the Find Your Grind Future Ready Assessment upon arrival. This is the same assessment that students take when starting at the Learning Lab. Upon completion, students receive suggested pathways that align with their interests and are encouraged to explore classes, workshops and resources related to each pathway.
The instructors at the TGR Learning Lab hosted hands-on workshops of its popular after-school courses including Intro to Cybersecurity, Structural Engineering, Food Chemistry and Comparative Zoology.
Also, interactive workshops were available in the Makerspace Lab, Jacobs Family Imagination Lab and Find Your Grind Multimedia Studio. These dynamic spaces give students tangible, real-life skills for students interested in STEM and multimedia careers.
TGR Foundation provides students with college preparation and career ready resources that help students identify, apply to and attend a best-fit college. Through interactive workshops, students and families learned more about how to align a students pathway to college to fit their college and career goals.
TGR Foundation also offers its award-winning STEM curricula, pathways to college programs and educator professional learning resources online to reach students nationwide. Interactive digital resources were on display for students, families and educators to explore.
The power of together was demonstrated at Community Fest as Experian, International Association of Microsoft Channel Partners, Gen.G, Providence, Hilton Anaheim and Monster Energy hosted interactive displays to engage students and provide information about careers. Providence provided health equity interventions and health education resources free of charge to the community including complimentary glucose screenings and information about mental health strategies.
Overall Community Fest welcomed guests to a lively celebration of togetherness. All who attended were treated to a day of fun including tacos, ice cream, cotton candy, games, music and more.
Thank you to our partners Find Your Grind Foundation, Providence, Experian, Bank of America, International Association of Microsoft Channel Partners, Gen.G, Hilton Anaheim and Monster Energy for providing students the opportunity to explore activities that connect students’ passions to careers.
