Tiger to Play in Wells Fargo Championship and The Players Championship

Tiger Woods will return to competition next week at the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Golf Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, he announced Thursday. Woods last played in the tournament in 2012 and won the event there in 2007.

Additionally, Woods committed to The Players Championship, May 10-13 at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. He’s a two-time champion, claiming the crown in 2001 and 2013. Woods last played in 2015.

Previously, he committed to the U.S. Open Championship, June 14-17 at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, N.Y.

“I’m excited to get back out there,” said the 42-year-old Woods, who tied for 32nd at the Masters in his last start. “I took some time off and worked hard in the gym. I’ve made good progress and want to keep moving forward.”

Woods began the year at No. 656 in the Official World Golf Ranking, but has climbed to No. 91. He posted three top 12 finishes on the Florida circuit, highlighted by a second-place showing at the Valspar Championship.
