Top moments at the Tiger Woods Invitational presented by USLI
In only seven years the Tiger Woods Invitational presented by USLI (TWI) has earned acclaim as one of the can’t miss private golf events, offering participants three days of competitive golf, incredible entertainment, and unforgettable moments with special guests. As the event enters its seventh year, we remember some of the iconic moments guests have experienced to date on the Monterey Peninsula.
2011- Peter Ueberroth leads an esteemed list of featured speakers
Each year during the Beach Club dinner hosted by Tiger, guests are treated to a featured speaker. Peter Ueberroth, co-chairmen of the Pebble Beach Company and a Tiger Woods Foundation board member, shared stories of Pebble Beach’s past as well as his thoughts on the state of sports. Other featured speakers have included Earl Woods Scholar participants; Vina Vo, Grace Lee, Alemar Brito, Kevin Nguyen, Alicia Frausto (pictured), as well as Tony Armas in 2017, who visited as an Earl Woods Scholar alumnus.
2012 –The late Stuart Scott hosts a conversation with Alonzo Mourning
The late ESPN sportscaster joined players at the second annual Tiger Woods Invitational by competing in the final round at Pebble Beach. The evening prior, Scott hosted an insightful conversation and Q/A session with three-time TWI participant, Alonzo Mourning at the Fairway One House.
2012 -Poker Pro Phil Hellmuth hosts poker night at the Invitational
After winning two World Series of Poker bracelets earlier in the year, poker pro Phil Hellmuth joined TWI guests at the Fairway One House for a friendly competition on Tuesday evening. He also joined the group to compete in the final golf round at Pebble Beach.
2014-2016 -Glow Golf
Glow golf on the iconic 18 green at Pebble Beach has become a major highlight of the TWI festivities. Tiger Woods participated in the Glow Golf competition in 2014 – and brought his own wedge! PGA TOUR professional Troy Merritt co-hosted in 2015 followed by Jean Van De Velde in 2016. We’re looking forward to another tough competition in 2018!
2016- Ping Pong Olympian
Two-time Olympian and 2016 US Women’s Singles Champion, Lily Zhang, gave table tennis lessons and played against/with guests (depending on which side of the table you were lucky to be on). Lily, who was featured in the documentary, Top Spin, has joined event guests for many years on the Monterey Peninsula.
We’re looking forward to making new memories when we return to Pebble Beach in 2018! Follow along at @TGRLiveEvents on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
