Flashback to a groundbreaking day
Today, we flash back to a major milestone in foundation history. On April 16, 2003, Tiger and Earl joined with local Anaheim children to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Tiger Woods Learning Center. In addition to showcasing the various design elements of the Tiger Woods Learning Center, Tiger announced Target stores as the first major donor in the $25 million fundraising campaign with a donation of $2.5 million.
“Creating the Tiger Woods Learning Center will expose thousands of children to new opportunities,” the late Earl Woods said. “Through the support of corporations, individuals and community leaders, the Learning Center will become a dynamic place for education, personal enrichment and golf.”
Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle, Orange County Supervisor Tom Wilson and members of the TWLC’s Education Committee were also on hand to help Tiger launch the development phase of the 35,000 square-foot education facility.
“My goal for the TWLC is to provide students with a place to explore their dreams and open doors to new opportunities and potential career paths,” Tiger said. This is their center, and I hope it serves as a launching pad to great success.”
