A Virtual Fundraiser for TGR Foundation

While the pandemic has challenged fundraising efforts through in-person events, loyal TGR Foundation donors virtually rose to the challenge over the past month to help raise over $1 million in support of youth through the Charity Challenge campaign.

Highlighting the campaign was TGR EXP: Jam with Purpose, a virtual event experience celebrating students and teachers. The event featured music by GRAMMY Award winning artist Darius Rucker, numerous celebrity guest drop-ins and stories from students and teachers impacted by the work of TGR Foundation. Highlights from the evening included host Tiger Woods donning his Masters green jacket in the middle of his welcome address, a conversation with Tiger, Darius and emcee Chris Harrison that covered golf, music, education and more, along with a surprise message from 2020 U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau.

“We have great donors and couldn’t serve so many kids without their help,” Tiger Woods said of the funds raised for TGR Foundation. “They want to be a part of more than an event, something greater. I’m so thankful for their support.”

Marcelo Quijano, a recent alumnus of TGR Foundation’s Earl Woods Scholar Program, spoke to the viewing audience with a moving message of how the foundation influenced his life. “This program has been vital to my success,” Marcelo said. “They have empowered me; I have a place in the world. I can go above and beyond anything I ever imagined.”

Supporting the campaign was the Bid with Purpose online charity auction that offered bidders the chance to make an impact with the thrill of an event auction. The auction featured numerous premier items perfect for fanatics of sports memorabilia and golf experiences. A few of the top items in the auction included a golf simulator from Full Swing, Tiger’s golf cart from The Match, and incredible golf trips to TGR Design‘s Diamante and Bluejack National.

In the days prior to Jam with Purpose, a special Giving Challenge was launched. With the help of Coca-Cola, all online donations were matched in direct support of TGR Foundation’s effort to continue providing quality digital education resources for youth.

Funds raised from the month-long campaign will provide critical support for TGR Foundation to continue expanding education programs and resources online to students and teachers in under-resourced schools and high-needs communities at no cost. Access to quality remote learning resources fosters continued learning during these challenging times. For highlights of the education programs of TGR Foundation, click here
