Earl Woods scholar honored with Freemasonry induction
It’s not every day that a 20-year-old college student can say that he accomplished similar achievements at the same age as the first president of the United States. Enter Earl Woods scholar James ‘Jimmy’ Green. Green, a talented junior studying criminology at George Mason University, was recently inducted into Freemasonry at the lodge where George Washington also received the prestigious honor.
Beyond freemasonry, the new inductee got to experience other connections to GW. Green’s initiation included being sworn in with Washington’s bible. He also got the opportunity to be exposed to some of the most historical artifacts of The American Fabius.
“The brothers of the lodge are refurbishing the new lodge downstairs (an updated area to keep the historic area upstairs preserved), and I was able to hold George Washington’s war medals and his rings while the case holding them was cleaned! It was amazing,” an excited Green recalled.
Green is the first student to attend George Mason on an Earl Woods scholarship, awarded through the Tiger Woods Foundation. The scholarship program, founded nine years ago, honors Woods’ late father and assists high-achieving, first-generation college students who face financial challenges.
