Tiger’s Presidents Cup press conference: Saturday

Q: You play here at Memorial, is it playing differently this time of year?

TIGER WOODS: At moments, the only thing that makes a difference– inaudible– the lies on the greens.

Q: (Inaudible.).

MATT KUCHAR: It just didn’t come out. There were a lot of holes halved. There were not many holes won with birdies. We got off to a 7-under through 11 start and they were right there with us, so it was like a club match.

Q: Now playing Adam Scott and Hideki Matsuyama, what challenges do you face?

TIGER WOODS: Well, we’re used to it. We’ve done this a bunch before. Mate has been on teams and I’ve been on teams and we know how it works.

Q: You guys had it going most of the round.

TIGER WOODS: We played really well, we were receive up through 11, and they played great. Louis and Charl were just right with us making birdie and birdie, and Kuch topping them on 3 and 4 was huge to keep that 1-up lead.

Q: Talk us through how much fun it looked like you were having, you were dusting the guys in the practice round and you were way, way under par. What’s the secret here?

MATT KUCHAR: You get a great partner like Tiger Woods, we matched up really well together, having a lot of fun out there and making a lot of birdies.

Q: Whether you were standing over that putt, that’s the first time you’ve played 18 all week, how tough was that match?

MATT KUCHAR: Really tough match. This guy is a horse, Holy Cow. He played some incredible golf today. I was along for the ride for most of it. Let him down a couple times, missed a few putts, but boy, that sure was a fun way to end it.

Q: You told us Thursday you were ham-and-egging it, what did you do this time?

TIGER WOODS: Same thing. It was one of those matches where we were down two early and could have got up on that front nine, could have gone 1-up and all of a sudden we are down again. Then we made a little bit of a run and then Hideki made a bomb on 16 and just made it a little bit more interesting coming down the last couple holes.

But Kuch, man, what a birdie on 18.

Q: Another long day but you’re down a couple holes, first talk about your morning match you guys won.

TIGER WOODS: Yeah, we played well, and it was a tight match. Guys were making a bunch of birdies, and it was nip and tuck to the very end.

Q: And then I guess you’re 3-0, second time you’ve been 3-0 in Presidents Cups, talk about how your week is going so far?

TIGER WOODS: So far 3-0. Obviously we need to get on our horse tomorrow. I have a makeable putt tomorrow on 10 so hopefully we can turn that match around and get us a point.
