Tiger plays second practice round Monday at St. Andrews
Tiger Woods played his second practice round Monday on the Old Course in St. Andrews, Scotland, in preparation for this week’s 144th Open Championship. Playing late in the afternoon in light sprinkles and almost no wind, he teamed up with 2013 PGA champion Jason Dufner for the second straight day, and they were joined by Matt Kuchar and Gary Woodland.
Swing coach Chris Como was also on hand.
Earlier in the day, tee times for the first two rounds were announced. For the second consecutive major, Tiger will play with Louis Oosthuizen of South Africa, along with Jason Day of Australia. They begin first-round play Thursday at 4:55 a.m. ET and second-round play Friday at 9:56 a.m. ET.
Tiger has captured three Claret Jugs, winning at St. Andrews in 2000 and 2005. He tied for 23rd at the 2010 Open, which Oosthuizen won by seven strokes.
When the foursome reached the 16th green, Dufner, Kuchar and Woodland continued on, while Tiger stayed to practice his putting and met up with Jordan Spieth. They exchanged hearty handshakes, and Woods congratulated him on Sunday’s victory in the John Deere Classic.
After putting and talking for a while, Spieth left, and Tiger continued to putt until 9:30 p.m. local time.
