TGR Learning Lab’s 2017 Player Development Golf Program Club Championship

Junior Golfer hits of the tee in Anaheim

The TGR Learning Lab’s golf department hosted the TGR Learning Lab Player Development Golf Program Club Championship on August 1, 2017 at the Dad Miller Golf Course in Anaheim, CA. Forty students aging from 10 to 18 years-old work all year to compete in this season ending championship. Monthly golf clinics hone in on skills including putting, chipping, pitching and full golf swings. From this event, we saw 6 winners ranging from different age divisions.

This was my first year photographing this event for the Tiger Woods Foundation and I was greatly impressed! Every player showed great skill, courage and resilience throughout the day. Golf is not an easy sport to play, and watching all the players never giving up on every shot was very inspiring. I was also impressed by the young girls playing with great driving distance, accuracy and easy flowing golf swings. With the great help from the TGR Learning Lab golf department, this event looks to be a recurring championship that will be played many more times!

Being new to the Tiger Woods Foundation working as the junior graphic designer, I love being at the TGR Learning Lab and watching kids participate in the game of golf, at all levels. Being an avid golfer myself, it’s great to see events like this involve as many kids to grow the great game. I feel like golf offers many life-long skills that every child could benefit from. I can’t wait to see these kids grow up to be successful, life-long golfers or even make it to the PGA or LPGA Tours.

Redefining what it means to be a champion.
