TGR EDU: Explore offers college-access webinar
College exploration and admissions can be an overwhelming and confusing process. But it doesn’t have to be! The Tiger Woods Foundation and Discovery Education, the leading provider of digital content and professional development for K-12 classrooms, are pleased to offer new and free college preparedness resources now available at TGR EDU: Explore. In addition, we’re inviting educators, high school counselors, parents and students to join us for a college-access webinar airing live on Tuesday, April 11, at 4 p.m. PST.
Through TGR EDU: Explore’s new digital experience, College Blueprint: From Exploration to Acceptance, students can begin their college journey on the right path. This self-guided learning module arms students with information they need to find colleges that are a good fit and ease the college application process. It also provides students with steps they can take before and during senior year to get ready, and information that can help them pay for college once they are accepted.
The live webinar, archived on TGR EDU: Explore for those unable to attend, will help educators — teachers, counselors and even parents — prepare high school students for the college admissions process. The webinar will highlight the importance of self-advocacy in students, including specific strategies that will assist students in feeling confident to advocate for themselves as they search for their college fit.
Educators and counselors will benefit from sample activities that encourage students to act and communicate as young professionals, giving them the necessary tools to stand out throughout the college application process. From the power of social media to engaging digital tools for educators to use in the classroom, the session will also provide concrete tools, tips and resources that will allow educators to present information to their students in a meaningful way.
