In memory of Tiger Woods Foundation board member Dale Dykema
We lost a major player in the history of the Tiger Woods Foundation with the passing of Dale Dykema on July 4th after a long battle with prostate cancer. Dale was a businessman, entrepreneur and philanthropist, helping to make his community, Orange County, California, a much better place. And while Dale was a true local legend, he was especially kind with his time and contributions to the Tiger Woods Foundation.
Dale was one of our longest-serving board members, joining 12 years ago and contributing to a number of committees. He played a key role in developing the learning center board and building momentum in the Orange County community for the development and building of the Anaheim Tiger Woods Learning Center (now the TGR Learning Lab).
On top of the TGR Learning Lab launch, Dale also generously supported our Earl Woods Scholars, the High School Summer Academy and so much more.
Dale was a strong supporter of our events, attending and supporting the Block Party, local golf outings and many Tiger Jams. There were so many times that Dale would make the cross-country trip to work as a tee starter for the National in D.C, and the Championship in Boston. And although not feeling particularly well, Dale joined us at this year’s Genesis Open and bravely served as a tee starter with a voice as strong as ever announcing the field.
On a personal level, I had many great conversations with Dale about the foundation, managing our team and moving the Tiger Woods Foundation forward. He was always available and interested in doing what was best for our organization. And I know so many of us had the same kind of experience with Dale. He was a kind, gracious and generous person. And he made all of us better for knowing him. He will be missed
