Flashback: Topping out the Tiger Woods Learning Center

Today we flash back to a monumental date in the development of the Tiger Woods Learning Center: the topping-out ceremony! On May 5, 2005, Mayor Curt Pringle and city officials joined then-Tiger Woods Foundation president Greg McLaughlin for the topping-out ceremony, celebrating a construction tradition and marking a milestone in the facility’s construction.

Langdon Wilson was the architect of the 35,000-square-foot building, which would feature a wireless environment and state-of-the-art technology focused on innovative thinking and creative exploration.

“We’re very excited to see this tremendous facility take shape,” McLaughlin said. “Today’s celebration marks three years of project development, and we’re thrilled with our progress and look forward to celebrating the completion.”

Community leaders and foundation staff gathered to write their signatures on the beam that’s central to the learning center’s infrastructure. Signatures include then-Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle, former California State Secretary of Education Marian Bergeson, and of course, Tiger Woods!
