Experiences that define 20 years of Tiger Jam
Tiger Jam is an event defined by experiences made to last a lifetime. For 20 years, Tiger Jam guests have experienced epic performances by Grammy Award-winning artists, all-in hands with poker stars, a reception and after-party filled with celebrity guests, and golf at Shadow Creek all hosted by Tiger Woods. Tiger Jam is truly a one-of-a-kind event.
Concerts
Tiger Jam originated as a benefit concert to support TGR Foundation and 20 years later, music is still at its core. Guests have experienced legendary artists from Prince, Sting and Stevie Wonder to classic rockers such as Bon Jovi and Van Halen to current chart-toppers like John Mayer, Ed Sheeran and Darius Rucker performing their hits.
In 2004 Prince wowed the crowd with one of the top performances at Tiger Jam, followed by a 2005 surprise guest appearance with Stevie Wonder. Even Tiger reflects on his memory of Prince’s performance that evening, and how it was a moment that would go down in Tiger Jam history.
In 2008, the Tiger Jam stage brought Van Halen back together with David Lee Roth, in true rock n’ roll fashion. The event design was inspired by Eddie Van Halen’s signature guitar, which he donated to the silent auction and personalized for the winning bidder. The excitement was at an all-time high all night long, with the legendary rockers bringing every ounce of their talent to the stage that night.
Not to be outdone, No Doubt reunited on the Tiger Jam stage in 2009. Gwen Stefani and her No Doubt bandmates brought down the house during the first concert of their Summer 2009 tour.
Other incredible artists and performers that have graced the Tiger Jam stage include The Eagles, Babyface, Hootie and the Blowfish, Celine Dion, Glenn Frey & Friends, John Mellencamp, Third Eye Blind, Cristina Aguilera, LeAnn Rimes, Seal, Don Henley, Train, The Goo Goo Dolls, Keith Urban, Daughtry, One Republic, Jason Mraz, Counting Crows, Kid Rock and Paramore.
Entertainment
The concerts are not the only source of incredible entertainment at Tiger Jam. The list of celebrities, professional athletes, and other special guests in attendance at past Tiger Jams is impressive. From Kobe Bryant to Bruce Willis to Kate Upton, the long list of special guests has created many memorable moments for Tiger Jam guests.
For many years, MC Hammer (right) couldn’t be touched as he showcased his epic dance moves at the Tiger Jam post-parties, leading the dance party from the stage and joining guests on the dance floor. The VIP post-party is always an incredible end to the weekend with guests on their feet all night long, dancing the night away.
In 2005, Conan O’Brien (left) attended Tiger Jam and served as the emcee for Saturday night’s festivities, interacting with Tiger Jam guests during the dinner, auction, concert, and post-party. O’Brien seamlessly became part of the guest experience, interacting with sponsors and adding lots of fun to their Las Vegas weekend.
Another great post-party memory happened in 2017 at Topgolf Las Vegas. PGA TOUR Professional Wesley Bryan gave 2015 Miss America Kira Kazantsev and Supermodel Kate Upton golf pointers, and the three of them joined Tiger Jam guests in hitting golf balls off of the third story driving range. Judging their performance were musicians Kid Rock and Darius Rucker, who also took turns hitting into the Vegas night. It was truly a star-studded crew at the 2017 Tiger Jam post-party.
Poker
Tiger’s Poker Night, presented by the World Poker Tour has added a new and exciting energy for guests, celebrities and poker professionals on Friday night.
In 2014, Tiger Woods and Mark Cuban were seated next to each other at Tiger’s Poker Night and it was quite the showdown. The entire room was huddled around the table to see who would end up knocking out who. Cuban has been an incredible supporter of Tiger’s Poker Night, even attending last year when he wasn’t able to play.
A favorite memory from the World Poker Tour staff was when Vince Van Patten won Tiger’s Poker Night is 2016 by winning a three-way all-in at the very end! Everyone was on their feet, congratulating Vince on the victory! Click here to view the tweet from World Poker Tour.
Tiger’s Poker Night in 2017 brought many great memories, but one of the most memorable was Phil Hellmuth giving Kate Upton a poker lesson before the tournament began. Phil is a great emcee at this event, and to have him and Kate Upton sit side-by-side at the poker table was something fun for all of our guests to watch that evening.
Golf
Golf has been an integral part of the Tiger Jam experience. Tiger Woods has hosted golf clinics and exhibitions at numerous courses around Vegas before landing at the exclusive Shadow Creek Golf Course.
TGR Live Events Manager Lindsey Witham remembers stepping onto the course at Shadow Creek for the first time. “I was in awe. The way you feel on the course, you would have no idea you are in Vegas, with all of the lush greenery, creeks, and waterfalls.” The course truly is one you have to see to believe.
In 2017, Kid Rock played Shadow Creek on Friday with Chris Paul and on Saturday, with golf influencer and SI Swimsuit model Paige Spiranac. During their round, Kid Rock decided he wanted In’N’Out Burger, so he had burgers delivered on-course for the foursome. Guests thought it was hilarious and Paige couldn’t stop talking the experience of enjoying In’N’Out Burger during the round.
Foundation Impact
Every year, TGR Foundation brings students from its programs for the experience of a lifetime, to share their personal experience at Tiger Jam. The student(s) are able to share their stories with Tiger Jam guests, to showcase how these TGR Live events truly make a difference in their lives and help them accomplish their goals.
In 2008, students from the TGR Learning Labs in both Washington D.C. and Anaheim, CA attended the reception. Following dinner, they all stood up and shared their “Fist Pump Moment” with the crowd, describing what excites them about school and what accomplishments they have been able to achieve with the help of donors at Tiger Jam.
In 2017, TGR Foundation graduated its first lawyer from the Earl Woods Scholar Program. President and CEO Rick Singer reflected on what an incredible experience it was to hear Adrian Arias share his story on the Tiger Jam stage. “Adrian commanded the room with his story about growing up in D.C. in challenging circumstances, but preserved to graduate from law school. And what made his speech even more special was that his graduation from law school was the next day in Ohio. Being in Las Vegas and representing the Earl Woods Scholar program was important to Adrian, and after speaking he headed for the airport, took a red-eye flight to Ohio and made his graduation in time.”
Whether its golf, poker, the concert or the post-party, there are so many different experiences that turn into lifetime memories at Tiger Jam. Who knows what the next exceptional moment at Tiger Jam will be? You’ll have to be there to experience it for yourself this May.
