Celebrity Cup brings star power to Riviera

Monday at the Genesis Open showcased an exciting new event, the inaugural Celebrity Cup hosted by TGR Live to kick things off at Riviera. LA’s stars joined Tiger Woods and Fred Couples for a Ryder Cup-style match play event, with two teams battling it out on the back nine for a chance at taking home the first Cup.

The day started with a pre-round luncheon, where Captain Woods & Captain Couples selected their teams and picked the matchups for the round. Kira Kazantsev, 2015 Miss America and Golf Advisor host, assisted the captains with the team selections on stage. Once the teams were chosen, the celebs headed out to the range to warm up, before teeing off on the 10th hole.

Along with the celebrities were TGR Live social media hosts; Ashley Brewer, sportscaster from ABC7 LA, Kaitlyn Bristowe from ABC’s The Bachelorette, and CBS Sports’ Amanda Balionis, who each walked inside the ropes during the matchups.

Team Eldrick, including Jerry Rice, Kid Rock, Paige Spiranac, Nick Jonas, Larry Fitzgerald, and Mark Wahlberg took on Team Frederick made up of Reggie Bush, Chris Pratt, Luke Wilson, Oliver Hudson, Chris Harrison, and Carson Daly. Both teams enjoyed a fun and exciting round at Riviera, with Team Eldrick taking home the inaugural Celebrity Cup.
