A day of appreciation at Quicken Loans National
The Quicken Loans National held several events to support and honor those who serve or have served in the United States military.
Military Appreciation Hole opening tee shot
Two-time Quicken Loans National champion and tournament host Tiger Woods was joined by tournament military caddies as he officially opened the Military Appreciation Hole (No. 15) during his pro-am round. The caddies joined Tiger as he walked down the fairway sharing stories about growing up in a military family. Lots of laughter and smiles followed.
We Salute Our Heroes Tribute Wall
Woods then made his way to the We Salute Our Heroes Tribute Wall, where he signed a heartfelt tribute to our military and greeted military personnel along the way!
Q&A with USO Metro DC and Wounded Warriors
Woods discussed golf and growing up in a military family with USO Metro DC and members of Wounded Warriors. Woods’ father Earl was a member of the Green Berets and served our military for 20 years.
Shot for Heroes
Woods and Rickie Fowler wowed spectators as they teed off at the Quicken Loans Shot for Heroes at the 19th hole and signed autographs to kick off the tournament-long charitable initiative. Quicken Loans will donate to Military Warriors Support Foundation for every attempt on the 19th hole, and will even donate $25,000 to the organization if the hole is aced. Fowler, Woods and several wounded warriors’ shots were close enough to the hole to earn $11,500 for the foundation.
For the ninth straight year, all active duty members of the military are invited to attend the Quicken Loans National with complimentary tickets and access to the Lockheed Martin Military Pavilion. Get yours today.
