Earl Woods Scholar Program heads to the National Scholarship Providers Association Conference
This year, the Tiger Woods Foundation and Earl Woods Scholar Program has the exciting opportunity to not only attend, but also present at the 2017 National Scholarship Providers Association conference in Seattle, Washington. Alongside my colleague, Dr. Katherine Bihr, vice president of programs and education, we’ll have the chance to engage with various foundations, charities, educational institutions and corporations who, like us, are providing scholarships and much needed resources to underserved youth in high school and college.
Our session, Investing in Your Scholars – Support Services to Ensure Success, will focus on the work of the Earl Woods Scholar Program. Celebrating 10 years recently, we have nearly 200 scholars across the United States currently in college or alumni of the program.
It’s our first time attending and speaking at the NSPA conference, so we certainly hope you’ll join our session. Here are the details:
When: Tuesday, October 10, 2017 2:45 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Where: Crystal B Room
What: Investing in Your Scholars – Support Services to Ensure Success
Achieving a 98% college graduation rate doesn’t happen by accident. The Earl Woods Scholar Program boasts both strong persistence and college completion rates for its scholars. We believe putting key support mechanisms in place not only increases the chances of success for our students, but protects our investment.
Supporting high-potential students with demonstrated need and a commitment to community service, the Earl Woods Scholar Program goes far beyond financial assistance. Each Earl Woods Scholar also receives mentoring support, specialized internship opportunities, career development and enrichment workshops. Our scholars, many of whom are first-generation college students, are succeeding at prestigious universities throughout the country.
We’ll discuss common issues facing all our scholars and discover ways to engage meaningfully. You’ll walk away with strategies for program improvement and an action plan.
I look forward to connecting with new friends at the conference!
Redefining what it means to be a champion.
