Tiger to go for win No. 7 at Bay Hill
Tiger Woods has committed to play in the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard, March 22-25, at the Bay Hill Club and Lodge in Orlando, Fla., he announced Monday. The only six-time winner of the event, Woods previously won titles in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2008 and 2009. Last year, he tied for 24th.
Woods has gotten off to a strong start in 2012. He opened the year by tying for third in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship in the United Arab Emirates, then tied for 15th in his PGA Tour debut at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Tiger followed with a tie for 17th at the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship, then tied for second on Sunday at The Honda Classic, where he closed with an 8-under-par 62.
Woods will be competing for the third consecutive week at the WGC-Cadillac Invitational at the TPC Blue Monster at Doral in Doral, Fla. He’s won the tournament three times at Doral — 2004, 2005, 2007 — and also at five other sites when the event was known as the WGC-American Express Championship. Last year, Tiger tied for 10th Doral, where he fired a final-round 66.
