Woods to head to Arizona, then Florida

Looking to continue his good early-season play, Tiger Woods committed to three upcoming tournaments Tuesday. He will compete in next week’s World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship, followed by The Honda Classic, March 1-4, and the WGC-Cadillac Championship, March 8-11.

“I’m excited about my start and look forward to keep building,” said Woods, who tied for third in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship and tied for 15th last week in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. “I’ve made great strides from last year and hopefully all my hard work will pay off with a victory soon.”

Woods is a three-time winner of the Match Play Championship, which will be played at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Marana, Ariz. He won in 2003, ’04 and ’08, and was runner-up in 2000.

The Honda Classic, held at the PGA National Resort & Spa Champion Course in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., is a new tournament for Woods, who recently moved to the area.

“I’ve heard great things about the Honda Classic, and now that I live here, I want to play whenever possible,” Woods said. “Jack’s [Nicklaus] involvement in the tournament and the benefits to the local community are also important.”

Woods will also play in the WGC-Cadillac Championship at the TPC Blue Monster at Doral in Miami. He is an eight-time winner of the event, having most recently triumphed in 2007.
