Woods paired with Stricker in foursomes

Tiger Woods will partner with Steve Stricker in foursomes (alternate-shot) competition on Friday on Day 1 of the 39th Ryder Cup at Medinah Country Club outside Chicago. They will oppose Ian Poulter and Justin Rose of Europe beginning at 9:05 a.m. ET.

Woods and Stricker were paired together three times in the 2010 Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor in Newport, Wales, going 2-1. They won in fourball and foursomes.

However, they went 4-0 together in the 2009 Presidents Cup at Harding Park Golf Course in San Francisco, and lost in foursomes at the 2011 Presidents Cup at Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

This marks the seventh time Woods will represent the U.S. at the Ryder Cup. He enters the competition with an overall record of 13-14-2.

At the conclusion of the four foursomes matches, the format will switch to fourball (best-ball) in the afternoon.
