Tiger to team with Kuchar for 2015 Bridgestone America’s Golf Cup

Dreams are coming true for golf fans in Latin America, as Tiger Woods and Matt Kuchar have confirmed their participation in the second edition of Bridgestone America’s Golf Cup (BAGC). The event, one of the most important in the region, will be played in Mexico from Oct. 21-25, at a venue to be confirmed.

The expectations in Latin America for these two star players are great. Woods, who is back playing on the PGA TOUR, returns to Mexico after Tiger Woods Design opened El Cardonal at Diamante in Cabo San Lucas.

Kuchar, currently 10th in the Official Golf World Ranking, has finished tied for second and third in his past two PGA TOUR appearances.

Combined, the two have 86 PGA TOUR victories and 117 titles all over the world.

“Bridgestone America’s Golf Cup is a golf event with the best field in America. It is the most important team tournament of the region, and we are honored that the second edition is played in Mexico,” said CEO of Bridgestone America’s Golf Club Lisandro Borges, who set up the appearances of Woods and Kuchar.

The last time Woods played in Latin America was in 2000, when he teamed up with David Duval for the World Cup WGC in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The American team was crowned champions after defeating Angel Cabrera and Eduardo Romero at Buenos Aires Golf Club.

Kuchar is also a World Cup champion, having earned his title with Gary Woodland in China in 2011.

After the first edition’s astounding success, the BAGC will be, once again, part of the PGA TOUR Latin America schedule, with a purse of $650,000.

In 2014, the event was played at Olivos Golf Club, and Angel Cabrera, together with the best players of the region, participated. The Argentine team of Rafael Echenique and Emilio Domínguez earned the victory.

The BAGC is supported by the Mexican Golf Federation and will be broadcast throughout the Americas by Latin America Golf Channel and Fox Sports.

This event presents an excellent opportunity for Mexican golf to continue developing and follow the footsteps of players like Carlos Ortiz and Oscar Fraustro, who both play on the PGA TOUR.

At present, Mexico hosts events on the most important global tours: PGA TOUR (OHL Classic at Mayakoba), Web.Com Tour (El Bosque México Championship) and PGA TOUR Latinoamérica (Mazatlán Open, Abierto Mexicano de Golf and Bridgestone America’s Golf Cup).
