Tiger, Team Albany win Tavistock Cup

A day after recording his 77th PGA TOUR victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Tiger Woods was a winner again. This time, it came as part of Team Albany, as he helped the club win the Tavistock Cup at Isleworth Golf and Country Club in Windermere, Fla.

Tiger made a clutch six-foot downhill par putt on the par-4 18th hole Tuesday to force a playoff against Lake Nona. Teammate Ian Poulter birdied the first extra hole to lift Team Albany to victory.

“We’ve seen that a few times on the opposite side at the Ryder Cup,” a smiling Woods said.

Tiger carded one birdie and two bogeys while shooting a 1-over 73. Webb Simpson earned medalist honors with a 70.

Woods, who reclaimed No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking with Monday’s win, returns to competition April 11-14 at the Masters Tournament.
