Tiger solid in Round 3 of TOUR Championship at East Lake

Tiger Woods shot a 1-under-par 69 Saturday in Round 3 of the TOUR Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. Tiger has a 54-hole score of 3-over 213 and is tied for 26th in the 30-player field, 14 strokes behind leader Henrik Stenson in the last event of the FedExCup Playoffs.

Woods, the points leader entering the week, made two birdies and one bogey during his round.

An early starter with Matt Kuchar and Jason Dufner, Tiger parred the first four holes, then bogeyed the par-4 fifth. He parred the next four holes to make the turn in 1-over 36.

Woods continued his par run on the back nine, posting four straight. He finally recorded his first birdie of the day at the par-4 14th in unlikely fashion, chipping in from just short of the green.

“Duf was giving me a pretty good earful going down 13, so I was able to fire back that I wasn’t shut out,” Tiger said.

Woods made it two in a row with a birdie at the par-5 15th, where he hit his second shot in the front bunker and splashed his sand shot to about four feet from the pin. With light rain falling, he parred the last three holes, making a nice up-and-down par save from the front bunker at the par-4 16th.

“I didn’t hit it very well today, but I putted better,” Woods said.

Tiger begins final-round play Sunday at 11:55 a.m. ET with Matt Kuchar.
