Tiger plays 18-hole exhibition at Delhi Golf Club in India

Tiger Woods made a great first impression on the golf fans of India during an exhibition at Delhi Golf Club on Monday. More than 2,000 fans came out to watch him play, the largest golf gallery in the history of the country.

Tiger didn’t disappoint. He acknowledged the spectators after every good shot and birdie putt. He was 9-under par for 18 holes.

“It was a great day of golf,” the world’s top-ranked golfer said afterward. “Hopefully, this visit, in some small way, helps grow the game in this amazing place.”

Woods played with Shiv Kapur, India’s top male golfer, Sharmila Nicollet, India’s top female golfer, Anirban Lahiri and Pawan Munjal, Hero Company CEO and MD.

“It was more than overwhelming for me,” Nicollet said. “I am too excited. It’s the happiest day of my life. Tiger Woods is the god of golf. I got four or five tips from him, and I’m looking forward to improving my game.”

Munjal arranged the exhibition.

“I would like to thank Mr. Munjal for the wonderful hospitality and for making my first visit to India so memorable,” Woods said. “I learned a lot about this fantastic country.”
