Tiger enjoys family time during Masters Par-3 contest
Playing in the Par-3 Contest for the first time since 2004, Woods shot a nine-hole score of 3-under-par 24, although the round wasn’t official because Sam finished off three short putts, including a tap-in birdie at the eighth hole. Charlie did most of the heavy lifting, carrying around three clubs and a putter on the warm, sunny day.
“We had an absolutely great time,” said Woods. “These were memories for a lifetime.”
When Sam knocked in a short par put at No. 6, Tiger clapped and gave her a big hug.
Woods delighted the large gallery by nearly spinning back tee shots for aces at No. 7 and 8, dropping to his knees at the latter.
“An amazing day,” Woods said.
Earlier, Tiger played his final practice round in preparation for the 79th Masters by touring the back nine with Ben Crenshaw and Jordan Spieth. A four-time winner, Woods missed last year’s tournament due to injury.
“His game looked really good,” Crenshaw said.
Tiger begins first-round play Thursday at 1:48 p.m. ET with Jamie Donaldson of Wales and Jimmy Walker. Afternoon thunderstorms are in the forecast and temperatures are expected to reach 90 degrees.
