Tiger commits to play in The Barclays at Liberty National
Tiger Woods has committed to play in The Barclays, the first of the PGA TOUR’s four season-ending FedExCup Playoffs events, next Thursday through Sunday at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, N.J. Woods is the current FedExCup points leader and won the series in 2007 and 2009.
The field will consist of the 125 players from this year’s FedExCup points standings, and will be trimmed to 100 for the Deutsche Bank Championship, Aug. 30-Sept. 2, at TPC Boston in Norton, Mass.
Next up is the BMW Championship, limited to the top 70 players on the points list, taking place Sept. 12-15 at Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forrest, Ill. The top 30 players advance to the playoff finale — the TOUR Championship, Sept. 19-22, at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.
Last year, The Barclays was played at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, N.Y. Tiger tied for 38th.
This year, Woods leads the PGA TOUR with five victories, including wins at the World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship, THE PLAYERS Championship and the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. He also ranks first in money earnings and scoring (68.654).
