Tiger commits to first three legs of FedExCup

Tiger Woods, ranked No. 1 in the FedExCup point standings, has committed to the first three playoff events, assuming he qualifies. Woods is already a lock to play in the first tournament, The Barclays, Aug. 23-26 at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, N.Y., where he won the 2002 U.S. Open. The field will be comprised of the top 125 players and ties in the FedExCup point standings.

The following week, the top 100 players and ties will compete in the Deutsche Bank Championship at the TPC Boston, Aug. 31-Sept. 3 in Norton, MA. From there, the low 70 and ties advance to the BMW Championship at Crooked Stick Golf Club, Sept. 6-9 in Carmel, IN.

The top 30 finishers qualify for the TOUR Championship at East Lake Golf Club, Sept. 20-23 in Atlanta, GA. Each of the four playoff events features an $8 million purse.

Woods won the inaugural FedExCup in 2007 to claim the $10 million first prize, and captured it again in 2009.
