Tiger commits to Arnold Palmer Invitational

Tiger Woods will defend his title in the Arnold Palmer Invitational, March 21-24 at Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando, Fla., he announced Monday. Woods has won the event seven times.

Last year, Tiger posted rounds of 69-65-71-70 to finish at 13-under-par 275, five strokes ahead of runner-up Graeme McDowell of Northern Ireland. Woods previously prevailed at Bay Hill in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2008 and 2009. In six of his seven wins, Tiger has led or co-led after 54 holes.

In 15 career starts at Bay Hill, Woods is a combined 108-under par. Tiger’s average margin of victory in his seven wins is 3.86.

“Obviously, I have the utmost respect for Arnold,” said Woods. “He’s done so much for the game of golf and us as players. I always enjoy coming back to his tournament and hope I can give myself a chance to win on Sunday.”

Tiger is coming off a tie for 37th last week at The Honda Classic. This week, he will compete in the World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship at TPC Blue Monster at Doral in Miami. Woods has won the tournament six times.
