Merritt scores on Moving Day

The competition is heating up at the Quicken Loans National as golf’s best lead the pack.

Troy Merritt found his stride as he finished 10-under for the day, climbing 34 spots up the leaderboard and setting a new Quicken Loans National record. Merritt now sits tied atop the field at 14-under with Kevin Chappell.

Rickie Fowler kept himself in the running with six birdies, coming in one stroke behind the two leaders. Fowler shot a 68 on the day.

Two former Quicken Loans National champions, Justin Rose and Bill Haas, remain in contention as well. Both moved up the standings to finish tied for eighth, just three strokes behind Merritt and Chappell.
