Meet Bryce, the 2015 Quicken Loans National Volunteer Challenge winner
With his tireless work ethic, Bryce Corbett won $10,000 for the Tiger Woods Foundation.
The PGA TOUR Volunteer Challenge, sponsored by Myrbetriq, is built to recognize tournament volunteers who dedicate their time to helping tournaments run smoothly and raise funds for charity. As part of his win, Bryce had the chance to present a check from Astellas Pharmas US, Inc. to the Tiger Woods Foundation.
This year’s winners were Traci and Scott Corbett on behalf of their son Bryce, 13. Bryce served as a standard bearer for the week, and had the opportunity to work alongside top finishers Rickie Fowler and Charles Howell III.
His favorite moment of the week? “When Daniel Berger followed me back on Instagram.”
Bryce, a golfer himself, won by nearly 700 votes.
“We really relied on social media,” explained Scott Corbett about how the family garnered so many votes. “We posted about it on Facebook and just explained that it would take less than 30 seconds to help out.”
Bryce hopes to be back next year, and in the meantime will continue to work on his golf swing so he can beat his best score of 75.
Volunteer spotlight
Joanne Rashbaum is no stranger to the Quicken Loans National. Having volunteered at the event since the tournament’s inception in 2007, she understands just how important the tournament is for the military community.
Rashbaum serves at the chair of the We Salute Our Heroes Committee at the tournament and describes her annual involvement as “a labor of love.”
“To see World War II and Vietnam veterans sign the wall is the best possible thing I can do,” Joanne said. “The quotes on the wall show why I do it year after year.”
