Love completes American Ryder Cup team with captain’s picks

U.S. Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III completed his 12-man team on Tuesday by selecting four captain’s picks. He chose veterans Jim Furyk and Steve Stricker, along with Dustin Johnson and Brandt Snedeker.

They will join Tiger Woods — who made the squad for the seventh time — Bubba Watson, Keegan Bradley, Jason Dufner, Webb Simpson, Zach Johnson, Matt Kuchar and Phil Mickelson. The matches will be played against Europe, Sept. 28-30, at Medinah Country Club outside Chicago. Since 1995, Europe has dominated the competition, winning six of the last eight meetings.

This week, Woods will compete in the BMW Championship at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Ind., in the third leg of the PGA Tour FedExCup playoffs. Tiger is currently third in the points standings.

He begins play Thursday on the 10th tee at 11:48 a.m. ET with Rory McIlroy and Nick Watney.
