Volunteer of the Month: Orfanelia Hernandez

In this season of reflecting on what we’re thankful for, we at TGR Learning Lab are reminded of all the volunteers who devote countless hours to our students and programs. This month, we would like to recognize Orfanelia Hernandez as December Volunteer of the Month.

Orfanelia has been a volunteer since April of 2016 and can be found regularly volunteering in the Day Program at the TGR Learning Lab in Anaheim, California. She found us through a career advisor at the School of Continuing Education where she studied Early Childhood Education. Orfanelia didn’t have very much experience working with children or youth prior to her time with us, but she quickly fell in love with our students and became passionate about influencing students to reach higher. When asked why she wants to volunteer at the TGR Learning Lab, she simply said she wants to build relationships and help others.

Orfanelia eventually wants to work with children with special needs, and hopes to gain as much experience as she can while volunteering at the Learning Lab. Being the oldest of five, she has always served as a role model to her younger siblings and she now serves as a positive role model for our members. She embodies strength and endurance in the face of adversity and Orfanelia is someone we can all look up to. We are proud to recognize her as December Volunteer of the Month!

Redefining what it means to be a champion.
